As an American citizen and like so many my family has a storied lineage of immigration that helped build this nation. Some of my people came from Ireland, some from Germany, some from England. Some came over in the original Winthrop fleet of 1630 under the name Colby, and some fled their country for a better life from a war. Many of my ancestors saw the Statue of Liberty for the first time at the end of their long journey across the oceans in the 1800’s. Some of my people off my mothers side fought in the American Revolution, American Civil War, WWI, WWII, Vietnam, Desert Storm, The Iraq War, and the War in Afghanistan.
One of my favorite people on this Earth took the oath and fought for United States, 13 years in the Navy. He sacrificed his body for this country, and our constitution without question. Almost gave his life more than once in defense of this country and the people he served with.
We like most Americans hold strong to our traditions, and uphold what it means to have a democracy to live free in. We work hard for what we have. We struggle like so many others. We believe if you work hard and earn what you have, no one should take it from you. We hold democracy and freedom close so that others around us in our communities, states and the nation can continue to live a free, and prosperous life. What gives this country it’s culture and heart are it’s people that come from all over to make it one of the strongest beacons of democracy in the world. At least until 2025 it was the strongest beacons of hope and democracy, as our democracy is under attack and now threatened daily.
Our small “ranch” as we call it. Sits in a pretty little valley in the Mohawk Valley of the Willamette Valley, Oregon. We spent decades earning the right to wake up to pretty sunrises, and beautiful sunsets. We take the stewardship of the land serious. There is a balance between nature which was here first, and us. We like to share the gift with people around us when we can. It is a place of peace, refuge from city centers, and stress. We protect a couple American mustangs, and have some other critters that make a farm, a farm.
